Year 5: Stingrays & Surfers

Welcome to Year 5!

Welcome to Y5 new Surfers and Stingrays.
Mrs Thomas and Miss Tennant are looking forward to a great year.  You have already settled into some great new learning routines!

This is our last topic for the year. It is called Silent Night and has learning across RE (Christianity), D&T (textiles), Art (illustrations) an our class novel is 'The Girl Who Saved Christmas' by Matt Haig.  We are also going to be learning from another book by Michael Morpurgo - Coming Home and writing stories of our own.

A few pictures of our learning spaces for the start of the year.. watch it grow and change as our topics do !

Phonics Within Spelling Shed, digital games and assessment tools for phonics are available. These support the teaching of phonics via Phonics Shed but also give Spelling Shed users an additional set of tools to help develop children's phonics skills.. Our games start from pre-reading skills such as environmental sounds, include decoding-based games and even a flying superhero hare.

Y5 Science topic well under way!

We have started our science topic on properties of materials and separating materials.  It is the beginning of our SECRET SCIENCE FESTIVAL

Today - investigating the effect of temperature on dissolving sugar!

Here is a selection of poetry written during the sea poetry topic.
