Foundation: Dolphins & Turtles

Welcome to Foundation!

The areas of learning the Turtles (and Dolphins) aim to cover during their reception year can be seen below.

Having lots of fun outside doing activities that develop our upper body strength and coordination. Good, strong arm pivots and joints will help us be brilliant handwriters!

Where better to learn about shape and number than on the playground?!

We just love reading books in our amazing treehouse!

We had so much fun going on a weekly walk to explore the fantastic grounds of our school. We loved seeing the orchard, playing in the willow woods, checking out minibeast habitats and of course… climbing on our special play ship!

Getting creative in lots of different ways as we learn to use all the different exciting learning spaces in Foundation.

Wellies, water and wonder: using critical thinking and teamwork to solve problems and make the water to flow!

Slithery snails and wiggly worms: using our senses to explore the world around us.

Using iPads to record our findings on a minibeast ramble around the school.

Holding a pencil and using it with good control is very tricky! As it is a big focus for us this year we thought it would be useful to give you a link with useful tips for helping your child hold your pencil correctly. There are also lots of other videos on line if you want to get even more tips. Just google “how to hold a pencil”. Happy practising!
