Sept 2018 -Welcome Year 6
Year 6 have made a fantastic start to the new year. We have started our History topic - The Great Exhibition!
In our topic "Faith through the Arts", we have been focussing on the Jewish Festival of
Hanukkah . It is the Jewish Festival of Lights.
It dates back to two centuries before the beginning of Christianity. In the western calendar Hanukkah is celebrated in November or December.
We have learnt:
•the significance and symbolism of Candles in Judaism
• the use of decoration in Jewish celebrations
Look at these candle holders we made! (we are using battery fairy lights for safety! When they come home , perhaps a battery tea light could make these look lovely !)
We've been doing a team challenge to solve LONG MULTIPLICATION problems!
Epic effort from Year 6!
The topics that the Year 6 pupils will be covering during the Autumn Term (Term 1) can be seen below.
