Year 3

Welcome to Year 3

You can see a welcome to Year 3 and information letter here

You can see what the Year 3 children will be learning about during the first half of the Summer Term 2018 (Term 5) here.

The pace plan for Year 3 for this half term can be seen here. Each pace plan tracks when particular areas of learning will be in focus across a term.

Year 3 enjoyed taking part in a herbology hunt in the school grounds on Tuesday 30th January with Jane Wilson. Check out her twitter pages @janeayto "science snippets" and #herbologyhunt and #wildflowerhour. We are one of the first schools to have taken part in a herbology hunt! The children found 3 out of the 5 plants on the January spotter sheets: groundel, gorse and daisy. The red campion was also a good find by Amelia in Year 3 as it usually flowers in Spring!

Year 3 had an amazing time out on Dartmoor. We visited the Bronze age remains at Merrivale and the visitor centre at Postbridge. Our guide Mr Johnston told so many interesting facts.

The children who are members of Children’s University scheme have had two visits to Plymouth University this year. The first one was a lecture about ‘Maths and Bubbles’ and the second was a Natural History Quiz. They also got to see a film in the Immersive Theatre and undertook a guided treasure hunt around the university campus.

Chinese Hanban teachers came and gave Year 3 lessons in Chinese calligraphy writing, paper-cutting and told them about the Chinese New Year story. It was all very interesting!
