Our school supported Sport Relief 2018 this year with a whole school House event based around Personal Challenge. Each year group had a different personal challenge activity to undertake throughout the week and on Friday 23rd March everyone made their best attempt to improve their individual score. Our School Games Organising Crew (SGOC) helped out throughout the day to set-up equipment, support younger pupils, lead warm-up sessions and score the events. They were amazing sports leaders and role models! Every child's personal score was totalled up and the final result was that CHRISTIE achieved 1st place by only ONE point! As a school community we raised over £360 which will be sent to the Sports Relief 2018 fund. Enjoy looking at photos of the day.

Girls football opportunity, the school has received the following message from the Argyle Community Trust:
"We have exciting new SSE Wildcats centre starting up near your school.
SSE Wildcats has been designed to inspire girls aged between 5-11 to be involved in football. The centres provide girls with regular opportunities to play football and take part in organised sessions in a fun and engaging environment created exclusively for girls. The Centre also provides a safe environment where girls with no football experience can; have fun engaging with sport, develop fundamental skills, try a variety of sessions, learn new things and create foundations for a lifelong love of sport." You can find out more here(Eggbuckland Community College) or here (Marine Academy).

Some Year 3 children enjoyed a visit to Plymouth University under the Children's University scheme on Friday 9th March to undertake a Robotics Workshop. They learnt about  what robots were (discovering how many we already had in our own homes!) and programmed some robots themselves! Lots of the children now want to become robots engineers when they grow up!

#HerbologyHunt  - monthly spotter sheets (January's here) designed to enable your children to spend time outdoors, learn to identify wild flowers and feed their interest in nature. Year 3 and 5 will experience a HerbologyHunt with Jane Wilson on Tuesday 30th January. It would be fantastic if you took part and shared your photos.

Foundation and Key Stage 1 had a fabulous time planting trees and bulbs with support from the Woodland Trust and some incredible parent helpers. We learnt all about the importance of trees and how we benefit from having trees in our local environment. Fingers crossed our planting brings even more wonderful wildlife into our school grounds!

We are very grateful to the hard-working team that volunteered to help us improve our school grounds on Friday 3rd November. We got a huge amount done and the school is looking great! We chopped, cleared, burned, weeded, planted and painted and had a lot of fun. A big thank you to the team from BT Openreach for joining us!

Eggbuckland Vale Primary School are looking to recruit new governors, see this flyer for more information and details on how to contact the school.

On Wednesday 11th October, 5 children were selected to attend the Bronze Ambassador Leadership Training at Plymouth Life Centre. Whilst there, they learned about the skills involved to become a good leader, participated in different activities as well as having the opportunity to lead aspects of games themselves. All of the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to the year ahead where they will be working with Mrs Schneider to organise events and activities in school, in which they will have an active leadership role. Well done to you all!

Information for parents of children due to start school in September 2018
There will be tours of the school on Thursday afternoons at 2.00 from the 28th September 2017. Please call to make an appointment.

The childcare funding system is changing, you can read about it and see information about eligibility here.

In response to a plea for a donation to our gardening, Thompson and Morgan have sent 20 packets of seeds, a mixture of flowers and vegetables. We'll have fun planting those and watching them grow. A big thank you to them

We are pleased to inform you that our school is a Learning Destination for the Children’s University. As part of this programme, children are able to work towards achieving nationally recognised awards that reward the learning they choose to undertake outside of school hours. By participating in our lunchtime and after school clubs, children are able to ‘collect’ hours of learning which can be added to their own ‘Passport to Learning’.

School admission arrangement consultation. Admission authorities must set admission arrangements every year. You can see information about entry in the current year here.
